Delegation is essential in many cases when you need to complete a project that involves collaboration. Here are some guidelines to follow to ensure you are delegating effectively. 

 

 

 

Keep Your Eye On The Prize

Different approaches to certain tasks and there is rarely one set way to do things even in technical fields. This means that it s important not to micro-manage and allow people to fulfill set tasks in their own ways. The only thing to focus on is getting to the end goal and as long as you get there, does it matter how?

 

Be Thoughtful About Feedback

Avoid taking a Simon Cowell approach to feedback, don't be harsh or overly critical and veer away from emotionally driven statements. Be factual and honest and use the classic complement sandwich to soften the blow. 

 

Create Clear Outlines

To be sure that everyone is on the same page, set clear and definite outlines about what needs to be achieved. Avoid taking a leisurely approach which will then result in disappointment and confusion, set goals, follow a checklist and ensure everyone is in agreement before you begin.
